DE VENECIA III (ZTE-NBN whistle blower) at the CMN Catholic Media Network
“The impeachment case gives the signal that no one should have the license to do evil.” This statement came from Joey de Venecia III (ZTE-NBN whistle blower) as he recently graced The Forum, a weekly gathering organized by CMN Catholic Media Network and CBCP News.
“More than anything else, it gives President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo the chance to answer the allegations against her,” de Venecia continued.
De Venecia, along with opposition congressmen and cause-oriented groups filed the latest impeachment case against the President last October 13. Since that time, pro-administration lawmakers have openly declared that this latest case will soon lose out in The House’s numbers game.
“I would rather that we wait and see what happens,” de Venecia comments. We have so far been getting the support of an increasing number of lawmakers.
“The filing of the impeachment case is a good exercise in transparency. A good government should be transparent in everything it does.”
When asked about his father’s sentiments on the NBN-ZTE deal and the impeachment, de Venecia answered, “I am aware of the importance that the Filipino culture puts on the bond between father and son. I truly admire this but a big part of my life I lived and studied abroad where they nurture independent thinking.
The ZTE-NBN expose is something I did on my own. In the end I am glad that my father supported me.
We are both independent thinkers and in the end, it’s either we agree to disagree or become closer as father and son to achieve the common good.
